To develop the department into a recognized research oriented center of learning in various fields of Electrical Engineering, broadly engineering (as lots of work are done in the field of signal processing etc.) keeping in view of the latest academic and industrial developments in these area.
The department of Electrical Engineering is committed,
- to create the knowledgeable and skilled person in Electrical technologies with strong fundamentals, through state of the art teaching- learning process that develops the ability to solve problems individually and in a team..
- to create professional leaders in society with research attitudes in the core areas as well as interdisciplinary areas so as to impact quality of products required for industry and academics.
- to create competent man power with deep awareness of ethics and environment for sustainable development in Electrical Engineering. .

PEO1: Our graduates will have emphasise on high degree of ethics and standards while executing multidisciplinary engineering projects oriented to the application of Electrical engineering for their higher studies and industrial applications.
PEO2: Our graduates will have the ability to adopt contemporary technologies in Electrical Engineering so as to cater to the needs of the society.
PEO3: Our graduates will have the ability to apply the knowledge gained from modern design methodologies to address current technical issues and also they will exhibit consideration of economics, environment and social issues while executing such technical issues.
PSO1: Ability to apply the knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering fundamental for identifying and analyzing complex engineering problem and hence reaching to the substantiated conclusions.
PSO2: To apply appropriate techniques for reaching to the solutions of complex engineering problems by designing, analyzing, predicting and interpreting data using modern engineering and IT tools and finally to communicate the observation through proper presentation and appropriate modelling.realistic constraints.
PSO3:To prepare students to work in the area of core and software engineering professionally, ethically and effectively in the team and engage in the life long learning in the context of changes in technology, environment, public health and safety
Welcome. The department started with the inception of the college in the year 2002. The under graduate program provides the students with a strong background in the various broad areas of Electrical Engineering, namely, Electrical Machines, Control Systems, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Drives, HVDC etc. A strong exposure to state-of- the-art technologies is further provided through elective courses that are carefully designed for the interested students.
The department has a well qualified team of faculty members, being assisted by a group of experienced technical staffs. The faculty members are lead by examples and highly motivated to achieve excellence in research and development and publish their research in internationally peer reviewed journals and conferences.
The research interests of the faculty members encompass a wide gamut of sub- disciplines of Electrical Engineering. Collaboration with faculty members from other disciplines, both within and outside the institute, is encouraged. The research activity of the department includes fundamental research, sponsored and consultancy projects, and is carried out with active participation of the students, faculty, technical staff and research engineers.
To augment the teaching, learning and research, department has very well established laboratories for under graduate programs, where students can experiment and test the electrical engineering concepts and perform projects on various state of the art technologies. Many of the final year project works of the students are presented in international conferences. Department also has laboratories in some specialized areas like Digital Image Processing, Embedded Systems, Data Base Management System etc. In the laboratories many of the state-of-the-art experimental set-ups (software /hardware) are used for teaching and research purpose. Some of these are Programmable Logic Controllers (made by GE Fanuc, Allen Bradley), IP camera, Elvis, XBee, LABVIEW, MATLAB, PSPICE, ETAP, POWER WORLD etc.

A small scale quadcopter proto for real time activity detection and tracking based on correlation technique First Level of selection in DRUSE 2017 as organized by DRDO The proposal was accepted in First level of screening on 31st January, 2018. It has all so selected in Second level at Jupitar Building Jadavpur University : 26th and 27th March, 2018. Next level of screening at Delhi. The project aims to evolve a system along with suitable software for automatic detection and tracking of ground activity from a quadcopter, an unmanned aerial vehicle system (UAV), equipped with miniature camera.
Smart Helmet in SMART FIFTY
Smart fifty is an initiative aligned with the country's focused approach to promote entrepreneurship driven social development. Indian Institute of Management Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) in association with Department of Science and Technology, Government of India launches Smart Fifty — 50 solutions to Transform India. The project idea "SMART HELMET, has ranked amongst India's top 3000 start-ups from all over the India and abroad. It is an honour to get invited at the Smart Fifty regional round at IIM Calcutta, in an entrepreneur's knowledge session for the personal interaction with the CEO and founders of different renowned companies like IBM, Federal bank etc.
A Low Cost Device For Source Segregation of Waste at Family Level
The Project has got selected for 2nd INAE Youth Conclave 2018 at .1.17 The project aim is, to developing a device for segregation of waste for every family living in apartments, due to mixing of all type domestic wastage it is difficult and costly to segregate it at dump yard. A systematically trained deep neural net is exploited for classification of "biodegradable, non-biodegradable, biological" wastes. In the prototype, once detection and classification is made one robotics hand or any mechanical object picker will pick that object and put it into the proper section of that wastage.

This Department gives a phenomenal thrust on high voltage academic delivery, lab support for experiential learning and skill driven trainings to increase the employability of the students in the electronics and equipment designing, instrumentation sectors, power generation plants over and above IT companies.
